Nick Freemantle is Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at University College London (UCL), UK, and Director of UCL’s Comprehensive Clinical Trials Unit, which undertakes high-quality, randomized trials and diagnostic studies in a real-world setting to inform clinical practice. He leads a program of research examining healthcare delivery and practice, and related methodology. Professor Freemantle is also involved in analyses of Big Data, addressing questions relevant to health care delivery and policy, including the estimation of treatment effects and the performance of health systems. For example, his recent work on weekend effects in the NHS has had substantial policy impact.
Professor Freemantle has an active teaching role, supervising postgraduate students from all round the world. He has published more than 370 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and is a highly cited author.
